Voting in the 2026 municipal election
Advance voting is open now. The dates, hours and rules below come from the Town of Oakville, which runs the election. Locations are listed on the Town's Where to Vote page.
Dates
- Advance voting: October 7 to 10 and October 13 to 18, 2026. During advance voting you can vote at any advance voting location in Oakville.
- Election day: Monday, October 26, 2026, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On election day you vote at a location in your own ward.

Who can vote
The Town lists four conditions. You must be:
- a Canadian citizen;
- at least 18 years old;
- a resident of Oakville, or an owner or tenant of land in Oakville, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
- not prohibited from voting by law.
You vote once, no matter how many properties you own or rent in Oakville. Permanent residents who are not Canadian citizens are not eligible to vote in a municipal election.
What to bring
Identification showing your name and Oakville address. The Town names these as the most common forms:
- Ontario driver's licence
- Ontario photo card
- current utility bill
- current bank or credit card statement
- current insurance policy

If you cannot get to a voting location
Voters who cannot attend because of a medical condition or mobility limitation can ask to vote at home. Register by October 18, 2026 by emailing elections@oakville.ca or calling 905-815-6015. The Town asks people to call as early as they can.
